Over 155 people gathered Thursday night, June 18 at the grand opening celebration of Estes Dementia Day Center (EDDC). Currently located at St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church, EDDC opened its doors May 5th for people living with dementia; an enriching and social day program designed to provide cognitive stimulation, music and art programs, games, puzzles, and gentle physical movement, all the while giving caregivers some time for respite. The grand celebration featured guided tours of the lovely space, which is described by one volunteer as “cozy, homey, cheerful,” all which depict EDDC’s core values of compassion, dignity, safety, and joy.
